Transforming Legacy Aircraft Documentation From PDFs to DITA XML

To demonstrate the ease with which legacy content can be migrated to DITA Structured Content, Componize contacted Liftify, an aircraft manufacturer, for permission to convert their content as a use case. Liftify could not lay their hands on the source files for their newly acquired aircraft, and they were in a bind as to how to update the content, without having to write it all over again. At the same time, they had other legacy source content in MS Word and other formats. They provided PDF versions of their technical documentation to Componize, and using Harmonizer by Data Conversion Laboratory (DCL), content was transformed to a structured format.
