SMEs and technical writers need to be able to give and obtain feedback in as short a time as possible to meet often Agile sprints. Collaborative SME reviews allow real-time feedback and engagement with electronic sign-off on edits. All exchanges are fully traceable and are archived for Audit purposes.
Componize Review provides a path towards achieving this goal.
Componize Review is a solution primed for the SME.
While making it easy for all to the interact during reviews, our research has shown us that PDF reviews waste time.
- The time to publish the content, even if measured in minutes, eventually adds up
- The desynchronization that occurs when content is published implies last minute changes cannot be seen by the reviewer without republishing and resending the document to the reviewer. This can introduce an issue where the reviewer reviews the wrong version of the document
- The need by the author to collate feedback manually, and in certain cases create a tracker document listing all changes and the feedback received from whom and what action was taken to resolve the issue
- The need to modify the output post-publication to highlight areas of change, or to accompany an unmodified publication with another document listing the location and types of changes to help the SME find the changes
- In the case where an output can be generated with the changes highlighted using publication parameters, the document must be published again post review after the “track changes” have been removed. The final output must then still be reviewed by the SME.
Reviewing source content using an XML editor is difficult for SMEs due to the high learning curve required to use the tool effectively.
If you had a solution that was simple and intuitive, just for review, integrated in your CCMS that allows you to review source content, you could get more engagement and quicker reviews by all involved.
- Technical writers can continue using their full toolset, and switch to the simplified view if they want.
- SMEs will have this simplified view as a default.
